Tea Creek Film Screening

In April of 2026, the UFT and Story Money Impact co-hosted a screening of the documentary Tea Creek. The film highlights the story of Jacob Beaton and his contributions to the Indigenous food sovereignty movement. Through vocational training, cultural connection, and community support, the Tea Creek farm revitalizes Indigenous food production and economic interdependence. As the film notes, the strengthening of Indigenous food systems is critical- not only to addressing food insecurity, but also to cultural revitalization, connection to the land, decolonization efforts and resilience to climate change.

Tickets for the screening sold out in just a few days! Thankfully, the City of Victoria helped to secure a larger venue so that we could make space for more of our community members. On the day of, over 180 people attended and we raised over $600 dollars in cash donations alone! The event was also graciously catered by the Mustard Seed Food Bank so members of our community could enjoy a delicious meal during the event.
